Finding Your Way: Training & Mentoring

Sheppard Mullin doesn't waste any time:  our focus on mentoring and training kicks into gear during our Summer Associate Program.  Sheppard Mullin summer associates have assigned mentors and get hands-on work experience on real litigation and transactional matters.  We also conduct focused training programs designed to jump-start summer associates in their transition from law school-style writing to document-drafting and preparation of legal memoranda in a law firm setting.

Every time we hire a law student into our Summer Associate Program, we make that decision with the hope that this person will be with us for the long-haul – from summer associate, to full-time associate attorney, to partner.  Because of our long-term perspective on associate development, we are willing to make investments in our summer associates that most other firms aren't willing to make.  In recent summers, we have offered extensive tutorials on trial techniques as well as business transactions.
