Margaret Mann is a partner in the Finance and Bankruptcy Practice Group in the firm's San Diego Office.

Areas of Practice

Ms. Mann has been involved in commercial litigation and bankruptcy law since 1981. She has significant experience in large, complex domestic and international insolvency proceedings on behalf of creditors, fiduciaries, borrowers and other interested parties, with expertise in the franchise and tax credit syndication industries. Ms. Mann is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and is listed in Best Lawyers in America, Best Lawyers in San Diego and Southern California Super Lawyers.   She has been interviewed regarding bankruptcy and financial matters by NBC, San Diego Union, San Diego Transcript, California Daily Journal and the Dow Jones Report. She has spoken at the University of California San Diego and San Diego State University Programs.

Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Ms. Mann was a partner at Heller Ehrman.  She was Chair of Heller Ehrman's Restructuring and Insolvency Practice and was the firm’s National Hiring Chair.  Prior to joining Heller Ehrman, Ms. Mann was a partner in a prominent San Diego law firm. She was the chair of the firm's Commercial Finance and Insolvency practice group and a member of the Executive Committee.

  • People’s Choice Home Loan, Inc. (CD Cal.) (represent repo participant with in excess of $350 million outstanding in subprime loan originators’ Chapter 11 case.
  • OwnIt Mortgage Solutions (CD Cal.) (represent loan purchasers in connection with their multi-million dollar repurchase claims in subprime loan originator’s Chapter 11 case.
  • State Law Dissolution (represent loan purchasers in connection with their negotiated payout of their multi-million dollar repurchase claims in subprime loan originator’s state law dissolution.
  • In re Golden West Tacos (represented debtor in $60 million franchise Chapter 11 which was successfully reorganized in seven months).
  • In re Telios (represented Committee of Common Shareholders of $50 million biotech company).
  • The Bank of New York v. Rosewood Partners (represented secured lender in $180 million workout and litigation).
