Ping Chu is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm’s Shanghai office. Ms. Chu rejoined the firm after serving as in-house counsel for a major studio in Burbank, California.
Areas of Practice
Ms. Chu has experience in a variety of intellectual property matters. She has experience with conducting and counseling clients on the clearance of trademark, service mark, copyright and patent. She has expertise on the prosecution of trademark, service mark, copyright and patent applications. Ms. Chu has negotiated, drafted, and offered advice on licensing of intellectual property rights.
Ms. Chu has expertise with all aspects of the litigation process, including drafting and opposing motions, negotiating settlements and preparing cases for trial. She has experience with copyright infringement, patent infringement and trademark infringement and dilution litigation. She has additional litigation experience representing publishers in cases involving First Amendment, privacy, and rights of publicity issues.
Ms. Chu has knowledge in all aspects of China’s intellectual property law. She has experience with counseling clients on the protection and enforcement of patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret within China.
Ms. Chu is a registered patent attorney with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.

Representative Intellectual Property Experience
- Second-chaired patent infringement defense litigation in the Federal Circuit, resulting in the Court’s affirmation of summary judgment of non-infringement for client.
- Represented major pharmaceutical company in intellectual property matters, including drafting licensing agreements, clearance of copyright, trademark and patent, prosecution of copyright, trademark and patent applications, client counseling, and preparation of non-infringement opinion letters.
- Counseled U.S. company on strategies for protection its intellectual property rights in China.
