Heather Cooper is an associate in the Antitrust and Trade Regulation Practice Group and the White Collar Civil Fraud Defense Practice Group in the firm's Los Angeles office.

Areas of Practice

Ms. Cooper practices in the areas of antitrust and trade regulation and white collar defense. She provides counseling and representation with respect to potential mergers and compliance with the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, distribution agreements and arrangements, advertising and pricing policies, allegations of conspiracy, monopoly, exclusive dealing, unilateral conduct, unfair competition and price discrimination, and advises on the enforcement of intellectual property rights. Ms. Cooper also has experience with Canadian competition law, international commercial arbitration and international trade and NAFTA matters and legal disputes.

While at her previous firm, Ms. Cooper was a member of the antitrust team representing the acquiror in the largest merger in Canada in 2003. Her participation in that matter included analyzing U.S., Canadian and European competition law and drafting key submissions filed with the Canadian Competition Bureau.

Ms. Cooper is a dual qualified U.S. and Canadian attorney.  In addition to speaking French, Ms. Cooper is qualified to practice law in the French language by the Office québécois de la langue française, the province of Quebec's French language regulatory agency.

  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Represented numerous companies on antitrust aspects of such transactions, HSR filings, and government investigations.   • Product Distribution Practices: Frequently provide antitrust and competition advice regarding product distribution, pricing and advertising practices to TaylorMade adidas Golf, Eveready Battery Company, Leica Camera, adidas USA, Hidden Villa Ranch, ONE Industries and others
  • White Collar Defense: Represent subjects of money laundering, wire fraud, bank fraud, RICO conspiracies and tax evasion investigations and prosecutions
  • Prior to attending law school, Ms. Cooper worked on international human rights advocacy campaigns and program initiatives for the international non-governmental organization Human Rights Watch with which she maintains affiliation as Chair of the HRW Young Advocates.
